Desi Tadkaa in Stoney Creek offers a straightforward take on Indian cuisine with a focus on casual dining and takeout rather than a full sit-down experience. Located conveniently on Hwy 8, it works well for locals looking to grab flavorful, affordable Indian dishes without the formality or wait times of a traditional restaurant setting.

The vibe here is practical and unpretentious. Since there's no dedicated seating area inside, most visitors treat it as a takeout spot or a quick meal stop. On days when weather permits, they set up tents outdoors, which not only protect your food from rain but also create a semi-covered space for eating nearby if you prefer. Plenty of parking adds to the convenience factor, making it easy for families, workers, or students to swing by.

If you’re drawn to classic Indian breads and wraps, Desi Tadkaa has a solid lineup. Their variety of naan options — from garlic and butter naan to more unique choices like keema or bullet naan — caters to those who want a bit more than just plain bread alongside their meal. Kathi rolls here, particularly the paneer and chicken versions, have earned positive nods for their satisfying flavors and are a good grab-and-go choice. For sides, simple salads and raitas round out the menu, complementing heavier dishes without overcomplicating the meal.

Quality and consistency seem to be hit-or-miss based on customer experience. Some dishes like the channa bhatura and certain curries receive praise for their balanced spices and texture, while others, including popular options like malai chicken tikka and butter chicken, have been noted as needing refinement in seasoning and preparation. This suggests the kitchen is still finding its rhythm within the traditional spice blends typical of Indian cooking.

Overall, Desi Tadkaa fits best for those who want to enjoy Indian flavors at home or on the go rather than a leisurely sit-down dinner. It appeals most to locals or visitors who prioritize quick service, reasonable prices, and diverse bread and roll options. If you’re picking up food on a weekday evening or a relaxed weekend afternoon, expect a functional space and straightforward meal that reflects the varied tastes of the Stoney Creek neighborhood.

Desi Tadkaa in Stoney Creek has the formula to be good but its finish is not great. The malai chicken tikka is a complete mess. It needs about a 98% reduction of the liquid. Normally it’s done like this because things not marinated well in advance. The goat curry was good but the oil was abundant. The spices need work. The butter chicken lacks real flavour and tastes like they added sugar. Overall I’d never order that again. The bhindi sabze was decent but again the execution could have been better. The naan is not great. There is so much potential there but as mentioned just not executed well. I’d rather pay more for something excellent than have something cheap and made poorly.

This is a nice place to eat because you get the food in a good price. There wraps are amazing, I tried paneer Kathi roll and paneer tikka wrap. Which is 5/5. Spring rolls were okay, but I like wraps!! Customer service is good here, plus they also put tents outside because it sometimes rain there and tent protect your food from getting wet. They also got plenty of parking space.

I had ordered the veg thali here. I found the dal and paneer tasty but I didn’t like the taste of the chana. I think they should have added some other dish instead of chana. But overall, it was great, and I would like to visit there and eat .

I ordered the channa bhatura and it turned out to be absolutely delicious — the channa was rich and perfectly spiced, while the bhatura was soft, fluffy, and full of flavor.

Desi Tadkaa delivers time and again! We have always relished the food from here. The taste is so authentic and Indian ‘dhabha’ like. Everything is freshly prepared. Today we had a big order for our Diwali party and the boys here did an amazing job at accommodating our needs and went out of their way to deliver the food to our house! 10/10 no doubt

One of the best places that i have ever been to. It was a pure nostalgic moment, as they remind me of my homecountry with pure authentic indian flavours. I have tried streeet food, chinese and Kulcha channa as of now. Every dish has desi aroma with the perfect balance of spices. Top of all they can adjust the spice level accordingly which almost all places fail to do. Their Amritsari Kulcha channa and Chinese it to die for. It is a takeout restaurant with cute patio outside where they allow to sit and eat. Recomended
